predam family history

Edward Predam born circa 1840 married Alice Parsons (photo) on 21-Oct-1865 at Saint Paul's, Deptford, Kent, England. Alice was born 24-Dec-1842 and christened 16-Apr-1843 at North Cray, Kent, England
Eleanor Harriet Predam (photo) born 1872 in Chatham and married Harry Maughan.

Harry Maughan married Eleanor Harriet (nee Predam) on 05-Jun-1895. Eleanor was born 1872 and died 1920-1930 in Toronto, Ontario and is buried at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Toronto. Eleanor's father was Edward Predam [England] and her mother was Alice (nee Parsons). Alice Predam was originally from Westerham, England. It is suspected she worked as a servant at Quebec House (General Wolfe). Alice Predam's mother was Harriet. Eleanor was the middle of 5 children:
Rosa Alice Predam (spinster) born January 1870
Bessie Marion Predam (spinster - lawyer's assistant) born November 1871
Eleanor Harriet Predam born July 1873
Winifred Howard Predam (spinster) born October 1883
Ruby Madeline Predam (spinster - worked in Clerk's Dept. at Queen's Park) born April 1887.

Alice Predam (nee Parsons) and her daughters Rosa and Bessie emigrated to Canada in 1875 from England. It appears the remaining daughters were all born in Canada.

Eventually all five sister's lived together at 33 Albany Avenue, Toronto. Either my great grandfather turned them all off men, or they were just unlucky in love.

Alice Predam is listed as a widow on the deed where she takes title to the property at 33 Albany Avenue in 1913. The deed where she sells to her daughters in 1924 lists the daughter's occupations at the time:
    Rosa Alice Predam - accountant
    Bessie Marion Predam - accountant
    Winifred Howard Predam - secretary
    Ruby Madeline Predam - secretary

Rosa Alice Predam died 15-June-1953 an unmarried woman, and her will is registered as GC85455.

Winifred Howard Predam died 13-May-1959 and her will is registered as GC115564. Bessie Marion Predam died 13-April-1960 and her will is registered as GC118614. The only point of interest in Bessie's will is a reference to her half interest in the property known as 598 St. Clair Avenue West in Toronto. The remainder of the document details cash bequeaths to nephews Edward Harry Maughan, Alan Edward Lawrence Maughan (my grandfather) and John Howard Maughan as well as some un-related parties.

The Albany Avenue property is sold in 1958 and I have yet to uncover any evidence of Ruby's death.

The St. Clair Avenue property consists of Lots 109 and 110 Plan 1322 Wychwood, Brakendale & Dovercourt. The property was owned by Bessie and Rosa together. After their deaths, the property is sold to their nephew (my grandfather's brother) Edward Harry Maughan. He then sells the property in 1974 and takes back a mortgage which eventually goes into default after Edward's death. The property is then sold under power of sale in 1980.
